Classroom Manners

- Students are expected to be in their seats by 3:30 pm or 8:30 am for the summer session.
- Do not enter the building any earlier than 5 minutes before class during the summer unless
- there is bad weather.
- No food or drinks in the classroom.
- Any classroom disruptions or rude behaviors are grounds for that day’s dismissal which will
- be counted as a full day absence even if it is close to dismissal for that day.
- Cell phones are to be turned off during class and while driving.
- There are no excused absences!! All absences will require a five page outline as make up.
- A total of 4 ½ hours is the total amount of time that can be missed from the classroom due to
- tardies or absences.
- Make-up work must be turned in the first day after the return to class or your driving time
- may be cancelled.
- Failure to show up for 3 scheduled drives will result in dismissal from drivers ed.
- Each no show will carry a penalty of 1 ½ hours observation time.
- Chapter quiz scores of 70% or better is passing.
- Quiz below 70% students will write out the questions and answers at the end of the chapter.
- Missed tests must be made up.
- All make-up work and class work must be completed in order to pass the course.
- A notebook is required for this class. A 3 ring binder is required!
- Notebooks must contain the following: 30 pages of notes (number the pages).
- Notebooks must contain 10 newspaper clippings or printed articles from the web that pertain
- to traffic (crashes, road work, rage, etc...) In case of a crash write the cause, speed etc.
- All hand outs and work sheets. All work must be bound!
- No food or beverages in the car.
- No sound devices are allowed, such as I pods cell phones, etc (can be used to call home)
- No sleeping! Sleep time does not count as observation time!
- Students must remain attentive and respectful to the driver and occupants of the vehicle.
- Showing up under the influence drugs is grounds for dismissal from the program.
- Students must have 25 contact days with the instructor. Absences do not count!
- 42 hours of classroom, 6 hours of driving and 12 hours of observation time
- Students must complete all make-up work and assignments before a passing grade will be issued
